三、教学过程

Step 1 Warm up

  1. Show some fairy tales. Let students guess the name of the story.

  Sleeping Beauty  睡美人

Cinderella  灰姑娘

Little Red Riding Hood  小红帽

2. Talk about other fairy tales. 

3. T: Do you know Hansel and Gretel? What do you know about it?

Watch a video and know something about the story. 

Hansel and Gretel are poor children. Their mother died because of an accident when they were 3 years old. Nowadays, they lived with their father and stepmother.

One day, a piece of bad news happened to Gretel and Hansel. It was a mid-night, their stepmother advised their father to leave the children to die in forest. Otherwise the whole family could die.

Let’s look at the passage to know what happened next?

Step 2 Reading 

Fast reading

Ask students to read through the passage and decide what kind of text it is. Is it a letter, a play, a short story or something else?

Students may find out that it’s a play.

Ask students to act out the play Hansel and Gretel in groups of four. Choose two groups to act in class.

Continue to write the ending of the story. Choose some students to show their ending and express why they give the story an ending like this.Then ask students to think about another question---What can we learn from Hansel and Gretel? Let them know the spirit of this story.

Step 5 Homework

Retell the whole fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.
